Brigades

Registration

Any international travel requires a valid Passport from your country of citizenship.  Most of the countries in which we work do not require visas.  You will need appropriate, verifiable credentials in your field.  These generally include copies of your professional diploma or training certificate, and your state license.  Information on your own personal health status is important for your own preparation and safety.  Immunizations required are specific to each location and may vary during different times of the year.  As a baseline, you should always have your immunizations such as tetanus and polio up to date.  Check with your personal health care provider if you are unclear about your status.

There are no special requirements regarding a specific level of expertise.  We DO NOT require third world health care experience.  In fact, we are more anxious to provide an opportunity for first time participants, as noted above.  Many of our needs are for primary care or general care professionals as requested by our international colleagues.  When we have specialty volunteers, however, we often are able to form a specialty brigade to provide unique services in response to requests we have from hospitals, medical schools, and institutions such as Cancer Centers.

Most of all, we want your willingness to serve and an open mind.  As a participant in our trips, if you are armed with just those two things, you will reap an entire world of benefit.
